As with most RPGs, leveling up your characters will always be a thing you want to do to make the stronger. Visions of Mana is no exception to this rule, as leveling up will not only increase your stats, but it will also earn Elemental Points to use on the Elemental Plot, earning you more abilities and passive skills. However, there is no specific enemy in the game that will yield a massive amount of experience, like in some other titles.
Battle Challenges¶
Battles in Visions of Mana are pretty standard, as you defeat the enemies before you and then get awarded experience for doing so. However, one thing the game does differently is reward you for battling in certain ways. For example, completing a fight within a certain amount of time will apply a bonus to the experience earned. Other bonuses include not getting hit with the character you’re controlling, and defeating enemies with Class Strikes.
Valorflies¶
While exploring the vast areas on your journey, you will come across little red-colored creatures. If you go up to them and press the confirm button, you will collect them and learn they are named Valorflies. A countdown of one minute will appear at the top of the screen and any battles will now yield twice the experience they would normally give. It should be noted that the buff from the Valorflies does not carry over into a new area, but the timer will stop at one second while in a battle, so it won’t expire until you’ve finished that fight.
Cookies¶
Another thing you will come across while playing the game are items called Cookies. There are three different kinds, which are Curious Cookies, Miracle Cookies, and Mythic Cookies. Whenever you use one of these, the amount of experience you will earn from battles will be increased by 10/15/20%, respectively. Unlike the Valorflies that only last a minute, the Cookies will last for a total of 10 minutes. Note that this will stack with the Valorflies, as well as with any other bonus, like the Li’l Cactus one.
Li’l Cactus Bonus¶
The last boost you can get for getting massive experience is from finding the Li’l Cacti. Once you unlock them upon entering Rime Falls, it’s a good idea to return to previous areas and locate them all. When you reach 20 Li’l Cacti, you will earn a permanent 1.5x boost to all experience gained from battles. At 30 Cacti, this increases to a 2x boost, so you’re essentially doubling it for every single battle. You should really try to get to 30 as soon as possible, saving any Nemeses and bosses until you do.
