Scene 07 in Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong sees Leysha journey to the Red Salon to track down Richard Dunham. Throughout this scene you will encounter many puzzles, and two of them are required to fulfil her ultimate goal of tracking down Richard Dunham.
Leysha’s main objective in Scene 07 is to locate Richard Dunham.
Learning Richard’s Location¶
Following the events at the end of Scene 05, Leysha heads to the Red Salon with the intention of speaking with Richard Dunham about the revelations she learned. Although you’ll be working on this objective throughout the Scene, you should be aware that when you finally locate his position, you will trigger a state of the Scene that you can’t return from, so make sure you’ve done everything you wish to do in this Scene before proceeding.
Speaking to Berel Underwood at the start will not give you any hints about where you should start your search. As you head into the bar, however, be sure to pick up the Staff access card at the bar, this will allow you to access the basement which Betty in the rotunda alludes to him having an examining room there.
You’ll need the Staff access card found on the bar to gain entry to the basement.
Richard’s Book and Music Box Puzzles¶
There are plenty of other tasks to undertake during this scene, and you should undertake them now before pressing on to find Richard, doing so will advance this Scene to a point you can’t return, locking off the top floor (don’t worry, you’ll get the usual prompt). With the Staff access card in hand, proceed through to the back and go through the door with a “Staff Only” sign sitting outside where you’ll find a lift to take you down to the basement.
Here, you’ll have two directions that you can go, with the left path taking you towards the TrajaX storage areas. Ignore this path, and instead head down the white corridor to the right where you’ll come across two rooms. Both of these are important for the Book puzzle, the first will be where you’ll find a clue and the room at the far end leads to the bookshelf where the Book puzzle awaits. Completing this will unlock a secondary layer of security in the form of the Music Box puzzle. Once you’ve solved both, you’ll be able to proceed through a secret door that starts the end of this scene, locking off the top floor in the process.
