Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong

Choice: Take Journey to the Prince or Tell Her She Should Run

By
Ben Chard

Scene 01 in Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong will introduce you to the main characters, Emem, Leysha, and Galeb, while introducing the core mechanics of the game. This all takes place in the Prince’s Quarter, and you’ll have some important choices to make.

This is the first major choice in Vampire the Masquerade - Swansong.

Take Her to the Prince or She Should run!

This is the first major decision in Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong and what you choose here will impact Scenes much later in the game. In terms of immediate benefits, you should gain a Trait from one choice for Emem while the other choice makes it easier to gain a Trait for Leysha.

Take her to the Prince

If you want a good outcome for Journey, be sure to locate the File on the Unification Party Planning so that you can prove Journey’s innocence to the Prince, this can be found amongst the folders in Jara Drory’s room. Proving her innocence and having her stick around the Prince’s Quarters will mean you can gain a Trait from Journey in Scene 05 provided you don’t recover all of Emem’s memories in Scene 04.

There’s a Trait to be earned by keeping Journey at the Prince’s Quarter later in Scene 05.

With this set in motion, you should have Leysha witness the premonition when you’re watching this conversation later as you’ll gain a trait for Leysha and there’s nothing to gain from watching Emem and Journey’s exchange.

She should run!

Telling her to run will open up an extra major decision shortly, provided you win the following Confrontation. This serves more as an introduction to Confrontations and it’s hard to fail, due to the game allowing you three misses (for three stages). You can find more in-depth details about this Confrontation on its respective page, but for the sake of this choice right now, select the following answers:

  1. “Make her think I have evidence against her” (Requires Persuasion 2)
  2. “April”
  3. “She needs to trust me!” (Requires Psychology 1)

(1 of 4) You’ll have to win a Confrontation against Journey to convince her to run

Successfully convincing her to run will cause Journey to leave the Camarilla, where she will later show up in Scene 08. Of more Immediate concern, you’ll be playing as Leysha next as you witness the scene and you’ll be given another choice. If you convinced Journey to run, you should have Leysha witness the scene (and ignore the premonition) since this will allow you to inform the Prince of Emem’s actions at the end of this part of the scene (which you should do). If you took Journey to the Prince as Emem, then have Leysha witness the Premonition for a Trait for her as there’s nothing to gain from watching the scene unfold.

Once the Prince questions Emem on her actions once you regain control of Emem, choose to tell her the truth to gain Emem’s second Trait of Scene 01, A Sin Confessed.

Scene 01 has more than just this choice for you to contend with, and you can find out more information on those by visiting those pages:
