Description

Increases the character’s defense against magical attacks. Some enemies can apply this status to themselves.

Methods of Application

• Equip Fortification Materia at maximum level

Opposing Effect

• Cannot be active at the same time as Deshell, an effect that reduces magic defense.

Notes

If you’re preparing for battle against a powerful magic-wielding boss like Alexander, the Shell effect is perfect for reducing the damage they inflict. It’s not as helpful as Silence for outright stopping the attacks, but can help keep the party healthy enough to end the fight.
