All Coliseum Matches - Like A Dragon Gaiden

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The Coliseum is a big part of Like A Dragon Gaiden, as there is a lot of story that takes place there. It is also one of the bigger pieces of optional content, with there being a lot of fights you can do. However, some of those matches are a little confusing on how to unlock them, since you need to speak with certain NPCs at specific times. This page will focus on how to unlock all of the Coliseum matches in the game.

Unlocking all of the matches at the Coliseum can be a little confusing.

Silver Sponsored Match

Upon reaching Silver Rank, you can head to the Coliseum Lobby and approach the doors to the Reception. You will be stopped by a man right outside of the doors by a president of some company. He basically wants you to test a new product in the arena, but in order to do this, you will need to prove yourself first. This is done by simply completing all of the Bronze-level matches in the Coliseum, most of which are simple and easy. The only one that is tricky is the Mr. Try and Hit Me one.

Once you have done all of the matches, then go and speak to the president again, who will unlock the Silver Sponsored Match. There’s not much to say about the fight itself, as you have a weapon with infinite durability during it. The weapon will stun your opponent quite often, so you don’t really need to do much besides continually attacking. This match will remain unlocked after doing it once.

(1 of 4) The sponsored matches need you to meet the respective NPCs at the Castle once you meet their requirements.

Gold Sponsored Match

The Gold Sponsored Match is similar to the Silver one, only the NPC that gives you it is found in the VIP Lounge area, once you reach Gold Rank. She will go towards the far end of the room, by the pool. In order to unlock this, you will have to finish all of the Silver Rank matches. This includes the Master Try and Hit Me special match, as well as the Silver Sponsored Match above. The rest of the stuff is unlocked already, so it’s just a matter of finishing them. Once you have done all of the Silver matches, return to the lady to finally unlock the match. The battle is kind of the same, with the weapon you yield being pretty powerful and almost always stunlocking your opponent.

Platinum Sponsored Match

Yep, this sponsored match is like the other two, except you will first have to reach Platinum Rank. When you have done this, head to the VIP Lounge and look for a man sitting in a chair on the opposite side of where the Gold Sponsored lady was located. For this, you will have to complete all of the Gold Rank matches in the Coliseum, which includes the Gambling Match at least once. Once you have done this, head back to the man to unlock the match. Unlike the other two sponsored fights, you will want to continually do the heavy attack with the weapons to stunlock your opponent.

Mr. Try and Hit Me

Once you unlock the Silver Rank for the Coliseum, you should receive some texts. One of these will be from Mr. Try and Hit Me, who will mention that he can be found inside the Gambling Hall at the Castle. Once you go inside there, he will be right next to the receptionist, so speak with him to unlock the event. The battle is super simple, as he won’t try to actually attack and the whole goal is to try and hit him (hence the name). He will dodge a lot and while it might seem annoying, it shouldn’t really take all too long to finally connect a single strike.

(1 of 4) You will receive texts from both Try and Hit Me opponents.

Master Try and Hit Me

You should receive a text from Master Try and Hit Me at the same time as his little brother’s text. You will find him inside the Casino, right next to the front counter. Speak to him to unlock the match, with the fight being the exact same as the previous one. It only takes a single strike to connect to win the bout.

Gambling Match (Gold)

The Gambling Match is a special event match that allows you to wager your own money and practically double what you bet, should you win. In order to unlock this, you will have to first do the Silver Sponsored Match, as well as get Gold Rank. When this has been done, you should receive a text from the president NPC that gave you the above-sponsored match. Go and talk to him (in the same place) to unlock the match. You will be able to wager up to ¥990,000 and the more you bet, the more difficult the match will be. Overall, though, your opponent is simply one of the opponents you have already fought in the Coliseum, so it shouldn’t really be challenging at all.

Ultimate Gambling Match

For the Ultimate Gambling Match, you will need to do the Gold Sponsored Match first. After you do that and achieve Platinum Rank, wait until you get a text from the woman who gave you that sponsored fight. Speak to her again to unlock the bout, which plays out the same way as the gold gambling battle. The only difference is that you can now bet up to ¥9,990,000, so if you can get the match, it’s a great way to get some money. The fight isn’t really any more difficult than any Platinum tournament match.

(1 of 2) The fights for the Gambling Matches are opponents you’ve faced in the Tournament fights.

Four Kings, Four Fights

Four Kings, Four Fights is a rematch against the Four Kings, with each one being one-on-one matches, all in a row. During Chapter 4 of the main story, you will be confronted by the Four Kings while trying to leave the Castle. This will prompt some matches against them and you’ll have to complete all four of them. Once you have, you will unlock the Operation Family Welfare Request from Akame, so go ahead and do that. Finishing that Request will unlock this match.

Minamida Grand Prix

The final special event match will require you to finish every other match at the Coliseum. That includes all of the ones on this page, as well as all other fights from the Tournament, Hell Rumble and Hell Team Rumble tabs. The fight will pit you against six straight enemies that might be challenging, but by the time you unlock it, you should have most of your upgrades bought. Treat each one like a mini-boss encounter and you will do fine.
