Enshrouded

Getting the Pieces of the Past Achievement in Enshrouded

By
Craig Robinson

The Guard of the North is a unique armor set in Enshrouded that offers players a generic strong set of buffs for various builds. The multiple types of damage ramping, alongside the crit, stamina and solid physical and magical armor protection, make it a dramatic step up in armor quality from the craftable and scavenger pieces from chests.

When you make it to the capital city in Revel Wood, you will find that you can start finding different pieces of this set fairly naturally. However, some of the pieces are locked behind notes, and others progress in the city. If you intend to get the Guard of the North armor in Enshrouded then you’re going to do some tasks and go exploring. The good news though is that it is not in vain, as you will get your hands on the Pieces of the Past achievement in the process.

Here is a guide for how to get all five pieces of the Guard of the North armor set in Enshrouded. It will also get you the Pieces of the Past Achievement too!

Where to Find Guard of the North Armor in Enshrouded

In total, there are five pieces of the Guard of the North armor set in Enshrouded. The names and locations of these pieces are as follows.

Armour piece Location
Guard of the North Chestplate Inside the Crypt on the east side of the city.
Guard of the North Pants Inside a gold chest on the northern tip of Pike’s Port.
Guard of the North Helmet Inside a silver chest on the balcony of the east-facing tower.
Guard of the North Boots Inside a silver chest along the wall tower on the southeast corner of the city.
Guard of the North Gloves Inside the Gold Chest next to the Fellbrute boss guarding the Shroud Root on the west side of the city.

We’ll go into more detail on what each armor piece does and if there are any special requirements to get the item.

Guard of the North Chestplate

(1 of 2) Collect the POI quest objectives from Imperial Garden journals, and track the pants to the Port and the Chest to the Crypt in the east of the Imperial Gardens.

Collect the POI quest objectives from Imperial Garden journals, and track the pants to the Port and the Chest to the Crypt in the east of the Imperial Gardens. (left), Loot the Guard of the North Chestplate from the glowing stone coffin in the crypt. (right)

The Guard of the North Chestplate is only accessible after the player gathers the journals from the Imperial Garden Board, follow the clues to the Pike Port, and then get sent towards the Imperial Garden Crypt in the east of the city. Go into the crypt, and kill the undead monks around the graveyard and the crypt. We originally looted the Crypt before getting the POIs, and we could not open the coffin that the Chestguard was located in.

When you get the Chestplate, you will grab yourself the following benefits:

  • 54 Physical and Magic Resistance
  • -1 minute in the Shroud
  • 15% Ranged Damage
  • 15% Magic Damage
  • 15% Melee Damage

Guard of the North Pants

(1 of 2) Get the POI from the journal at the start of the Imperial Garden, and then head over to the northern tip of the Pike Port.

Get the POI from the journal at the start of the Imperial Garden, and then head over to the northern tip of the Pike Port. (left), The Gaurd of the North Pants is looted from the buried chest in the rubble. (right)

The Guard of the North Pants will require players to get a journal entry from the Imperial Gardens. Once you get it, you will be directed towards the Pike’s Port. Go over to the Pike’s Port by crossing the building using your Advanced Grappling Hook, and then walk along the bridge. When you make it over to Pike’s Port, you’re looking for a ruined building on the northernmost tip section of the port. The Silver chest with the item should be on the east side of the tip.

Upon acquiring and equipping the pants, you will get the following stats:

  • 30 Physical and Magical Resistance
  • 20 Stamina
  • -1 minute in the Shroud

Guard of the North Helmet

(1 of 2) Defeat the Wyvern, make your way up the Palace, and grapple to the eastern tower.

Defeat the Wyvern, make your way up the Palace, and grapple to the eastern tower. (left), Once in the tower, go towards the balcony and check the final note and Chest for the Guard of the North Helmet. (right)

Like the Chestplate and the Pants, players need to complete certain progression points before the helmet becomes accessible. Work your way through the City and enter the Imperial Garden. Climb the ruined walls of the garden, and you should come across a large square area enclosed below. When you’re ready, jump inside, and you’ll spawn the Fell Wispwyvern boss. When you defeat the Wyvern Boss, it will drop the Key to the Pike.

You can now use the Key to the Pike to open up the large doors at the far end of the boss’ arena. Got through the Throne Room, take the stairs on the right, and climb up the broken tower. Once up the next floor, go through the corridor, head outside, and follow the tower ramparts and battlement to the eastern tower by grappling over. Follow it around, and you should find a balcony with a note and silver chest on the side. Inside, you’ll find the Helmet with the following stats:

  • 15 Physical and Magical Resistance
  • -30 seconds in the Shroud
  • 13% Crit Strike Chance

Guard of the North Boots

(1 of 2) Head to the southeast corner of the city rampart and climb the tower.

Head to the southeast corner of the city rampart and climb the tower. (left), A silver chest at the top of the tower contains the Guard of the North Boots. (right)

The boots require the least amount of effort to find. Simply enter the city from the southern side, or find your way to the battlement near the Shanty Town and work your way down. Eventually, you’ll head towards a tower. Move up the tower and grab the Silver chest and the Boots inside.

The boots have the following stats:

  • 7 Physical and Magical Resistance
  • -30 seconds max time in the Shroud
  • 2 Stamina

Guard of the North Gloves

(1 of 2) Work your way through the city, get through the Portcullis to the southwest of the city and defeat the Brute.

Work your way through the city, get through the Portcullis to the southwest of the city and defeat the Brute. (left), Open the Golden Chest once the boss is defeated and you can grab the Guard of the North Gloves. (right)

To grab the Guard of the North Gloves, you will need to work your way through the city and defeat the Fellbrute miniboss around the Shroud Root on the west side of the city. You will work your way through the city and come across a spot where a portcullis prevents passage through the city.

To get around, you need to scale the rooftops and reach the large Inn next to the Portcullis. You’ll enter the building, and then find a hole in the wall that lets you through. When you defeat the Fell Brute Guard, go towards the Portcullis to get the journal entry, and open the gold chest to get the Gloves.

The Gloves have the following stats:

  • 7 Physical and Magical Resistance
  • -30 seconds in the Shroud
  • 13% Critical Strike Damage

And with that, you have successfully gained all the Guard of the North armor pieces in Enshrouded. Once you collect all five pieces, you will get the Pieces of the Past Achievement. You will likely be using this armor set as you progress through to the fourth biome, the Nomad Highlands. It is a very good set for a level 13 set, especially compared to its equivalent craftable pieces. You may consider swapping some pieces out if you still need to venture through the Shroud, or when certain parts of the next tier of craftable armor sets become available.
