How to Get Charcoal in Enshrouded

By
Craig Robinson

Charcoal is one of the most common resources that you will need as part of your early, mid and late-game activities in Enshrouded. From creating basic fuel sources used in other crafting stations, to even becoming part of some of the end-game recipes. No matter where you are in the game, you will need this material. So, with no further ado, here’s a closer look at how to get Charcoal in Enshrouded.

This guide will teach you how to get Charcoal in Enshrouded.

How to Make Charcoal in Enshrouded

To make Charcoal in Enshrouded, players will need to have access to a Charcoal Kiln. You can get this by recruiting the Blacksmith from the early game quest. Make sure to do that, and then place the Blacksmith in your base via the Summoning Staff. When that’s done, speak to him, and then you can learn to craft the Charcoal Kiln under the Production Place menu. From here, gather 20 Stone, and then place the Charcoal Kiln in the base somewhere.

With the Charcoal Kiln in place, you can now begin crafting Charcoal by turning 5 Wood Logs and 3 Dirt into 15 Charcoal. It will take 5 minutes at the Kiln to make the Charcoal.

Charcoal can be produced once you get your hands on the Kiln from the Blacksmith in Enshrouded.

Make sure to keep a reserve of Dirt and Logs for Charcoal needs. You can easily get dirt by digging it up from most terrain using a mining pick. Meanwhile, Wood Logs drop from all basic trees in the Springlands and the Low Meadows Biomes. Keep a stockpile of these items in the Charcoal Kiln, as you will need lots of Charcoal throughout the entire game.

What is Charcoal Used For in Enshrouded?

Charcoal is a pretty useful all-purpose material in Enshrouded, ranging from being used as fuel in Production Places, to part of many recipes in general. You can expect to use Charcoal among the following items and categories.

  • Smelter - Used as a fuel source to forge Copper Ore and Tin Ore into Copper Bars and Tin bars, and even end game Iron Ore bars. It can also be used to create Glass from Sand.
  • Forge - Used in crafting the Forge, another Blacksmith construction building place.
  • Shields - The Blacksmith can forge a variety of Shields using Charcoal, Iron, Metal Sheets, and other different tiers of items.
  • Weapons - Charcoal is used in various craftable weapons from the Blacksmith.
  • Armor - Blacksmith, Hunter and Alchemist armor sets require Charcoal, such as the Warlock set from the Alchemist, the Soldier set from the Blacksmith and the Rogue set from the Hunter.
  • Decorations - Items like Buckets, Barrels and platters require Charcoal to craft various decorations for your base.
  • Shroud Survival Flask - Charcoal is used as an ingredient to make potions at the Alchemist. Some of these include Shroud Survival Flasks to increase your time in the Shroud.
  • Spells - Charcoal is used in certain spell crafting, such as the Eternal Chain heal spell for whaler builds, along with Lightning Channel, Eternal Fireball, Eternal Acid Burst, and Light Burst for mage builds.
  • Coal Powder - Is a Laboratory recipe that is used to help make endgame materials and explosives.

As you can see, there’s certainly a lot of potential to use Charcoal in different recipes. Again, make sure to keep dirt and Wood Logs spare, as you’ll be needing a lot of Charcoal for lots of crafting from Revelwood onwards. With that said, you now know everything you need to know about Charcoal in Enshrouded. Have fun!
