Ellie, who is voiced by Ashley Johnson, first appeared in The Last of Us: Part I as she fought her way through the country with Joel to find the Fireflies due to her immunity to the virus. Upon arrival, they discovered that in order to create a cure, Ellie would have to die. After Joel heard this news, he fought his wait through the Hospital to save her.
A much more grown up Ellie returns to The Last of Us: Part II as the lead character.
