Main Hall

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

A guide on how to fully build and furnish the Main Hall of your Homestead in the Hearthfire DLC.

The Main Hall is the largest part of the house and therefore takes the most materials to build and furnish.

How to Build a Main Hall

To have access to building a Main Hall, you’ll first have to build a Small House, which is the first step in the construction of your homestead. The Main Hall is the central hub to your home and once it’s built you can build the north, east and west wing, as well as convert the small house you built into an entry hall.

Below, you’ll find the materials needed to build the exterior of the home. You’ll need a fair bit of stuff, so head over to our guide on how to get building materials for more information.

Stage Materials required
Door x1 sawn log, x2 nails,x1 iron fittings, x1 lock, x2 hinges

You can build the Main Hall after building the small house.

Total Materials Required to Furnish Main Hall

There are four workbenches in the main hall room, one downstairs near the main entrance into the hall, one upstairs, one in the backroom and then one in the cellar. For the purpose of keeping the tables manageable and readable, we’ve split all the main hall furnishings into the three sections with total material requirement for each workbench. Then, we’ve given the cellar it’s own page, since it has a lot of furniture and decor!

Remember, you can pay your steward to furnish your house if you don’t want to decorate yourself. It costs 3,500 gold to decorate the Main Hall, which is a bit pricier and will also take a long time to finish. The cellar isn’t included in this cost and cannot be decorated by your steward.

Ground Floor Furnishings

Below you’ll find the different categories of furnishings available at the workbench to the left of the main hall entrance. Some of the furnishings from the ground floor workbench will appear on the upper floor.
