Lost Sphear

Moon Ridge

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The party figures that maybe someone is safe on Moon Ridge, so leave the town and travel south, to the hut surrounded by trees on the hill. There will be a save point here and if you look to the east, there will be a chest, but it is locked. Head to the hut at the top of the hill and go inside, only to find no one is there. The party decides to rest here, but as you are, Kanata has a strange dream. When prompted to, hold down the Square button as the framed text appears on your screen. This will give you a King Memory, so approach the “king” and use the memory on him to turn him back to normal…leading to the end of the dream. Exit the cabin for another scene, as well as your first true boss fight.

BOSS - Morrin

For a first boss, it’s not too bad, but it does have one particular move to look out for later in the fight. Leaf Slap is a single target skill that will target one of your melee characters (Lumina or Kanata), while Root Kick is a ranged attack and will likely hit either the strange or Locke. Three of the characters you have cannot use anything other than normal attacks, while the strange does possess a single skill, which isn’t that much use right now, so there’s not really a point in using it.

Keep an eye on your HP at all times, as you will want to keep it above 80 throughout the fight. The reason for this is because later on in the fight, Morrin will use Root Quake, an area-of-effect skill that will probably hit everyone, even if you put the stranger and Locke as far back as possible; it hits hard, too, dealing around 60+ damage. Leaf Shoot is another AOE skill, but it will only hit around the boss and shouldn’t hit either Locke or the other guy, provided they are sitting back. Keep healing with potions and don’t forget to use Momentum to deal extra damage to the boss. You will receive a Nature Robe and a Flower Key as spoils.

(1 of 2) Positioning is key in battles, especially against bosses

Positioning is key in battles, especially against bosses (left), although some bosses will use moves that hit all characters, no matter where they are located (right)

After the battle is over, the strange introduces himself as Van and will hand over some Skill Spritnite. Equip them (each character gets one) to be able to use them in battle. Note that if you remove the spritnite, then you will not be able to use the skills attached to them. Kanata will also find a memory on the ground, so he suggests heading back to town. There will be a cliff to the south of your current location that can drop you down to the bottom, near the locked chest from earlier. Speaking of that, the Flower Key you received from the boss will let you open it, which will contain a new weapon to Kanata, the Waltz Edge.

As you exit the area, you see the merchant from Hush Grove has shown up next to the save point. Peruse his wares to see a stronger weapon for Van, plus you might want to restock on potions, should you need more after that last boss fight. Return to Elgarthe and use the Verdant Memory to restore the town to its natural state - or at least, some of it. Some scenes will occur and it’s decided that the next place you need to visit is the ancient ruins in the southwest. Once you can move again, you’ll find a save point in front of the inn and that’s about it (use the inn if you need healed), so exit the town and head southwest to find the Ancient Ruins.
