Fade Ridge

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Exit Pale Tower and travel south, sticking on the eastern side of the map. Not too far south is Fade Ridge, your next destination. Feel free to go around and collect the glow spots before entering Ridge. There will be a quick scene upon entering, then you’ll have to make your way to the top (this is Moon Ridge, from the beginning of the game). Note that there is a glow spot just to the right of the entrance, obscured by a tree. Make your way to the top of the area to find a little girl, with plenty of dialog to follow after that.

You will need to go around Fade Ridge and collect some memories of Elche. Start off by going to the tree pointed out before, where you’ll be able to collect an Unrequited Memory. Inside the shed will be two more memories, one on the desk on the left side, and another on the wall on the right side, towards the upper right corner. Unfortunately, the chest in the shack is locked, so exit the shack and drop down the ledge nearby. The final memory is on a rock just to the left of the main entrance to this area, but you still need one more thing, a Fader.

Before you leave to find a Fader, Memoria will hand over the key to the chest inside of the shack, so go inside and grab the Elche’s Sword from it. To find the Fader, exit Fade Ridge and return to Fade Gorge. You’ll need to backtrack through this area until you see a scene with a Fader, where you need to do battle with it. If you’re having trouble finding the Fader, get back to the entrance of the gorge when you first visited it, then take the easternmost portal and the northern of the two portals next; the Fader will be to the north of that (dead end with a chest).

With the Fader in tow, retrace your steps to exit the gorge and head back to Fade Ridge. You will automatically return back to the top of the area once you enter, where you can interact with the Fader to restore its memories. Some scenes will happen and you will need to seek out this “Lunar Pass,” as it seems to be the only way to return to the real world. At the entrance to Fade Ridge, Locke will detect a massive energy reading from the east. If you’ve explored the overworld, then you know there is one more location to the east, Fade Lake.

Fade Lake

At the entrance to Fade Lake, another scene will happen and things become a little urgent. You have a single minute to get to the Lunar Pass, which is in the top left corner of Fade Lake. The timer will tick down even in battles, but only when the active parts are happening, meaning if you have ATB Wait on, then opening the menu will stop the timer. The easiest path to get there is to take the eastern edge of the map all the way north, then go all the way west while following the northern edge, and find the single set of “stairs” that go west and then north.

You should be able to get there without encountering any enemies and once you do, you’ll get treated to some more scenes. Eventually, you will be back in the real world, in the imperial capital.
