Keeping gold at home
is surely not the wisest,
a thief may find it even if
you locked it in a nice chest.

Get out of here, you foolish fellow!
Hereabouts no loot you’ll find!!
Have you no fear of the gallows? Hear my warning,.
if you’ve got a mind!

With loot in your pockets,
you can’t go to market.
Best find a buyer,
who’s willing to take it.

’Tis customary for rooms in houses
to be joined by a corridor.
In the cellars underground,
a tunnel leads from door to door.

When you want to sleep and there’s no bed,
no place your head to lay,
go behind the house, and there,
you cansleep upon the hay.
