Prague letter to King Sigismund Letters
Description
A letter sent by the Praguers to King Sigismund containing their agreement.
Text
And in memory eternal and beyond all doubt, we establish this charter to preserve the agreements between the most noble Sir Otto von Bergow, the brave Knight Markvart von Aulitz and the councillors of the City of Prague. They have agreed that the Prague Militia shall support King
Sigismund of Luxembourg militarily in the territory of Bohemia, and that the above-named
Sir Markvart von Aulitz shall command them.
For this willing and conscientious assistance, the Towns of Prague shall have all their existing rights and privileges confirmed, and shall be exempted from the tribute to the King for a period of five years. The Prague Militia shall also be paid a tribute while the King keeps them in the field. This agreement shall be submitted to King Sigismund of Luxembourg, so that he may issue a charter and duly confirm all these agreements in perpetuity. Amen, in the name of Jesus Christ.
