There are many creatures and gathering spots that are hard to come by in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. The Legendary Shiny Diamond is one such item, as it is only found in Ginormosia and unless you take advantage of the Area Rank system, then you will never find it. You will find this legendary gem in the starting area of Ginormosia, West Dryridge Desert, as well as East Dryridge Desert. Read on to find out more about spawning it and what you need to successfully harvest it.

Where to Find the Legendary Shiny Diamond

Before you can even get this to spawn, you will have to play around with the Area Rank system in Ginormosia. This is done by interacting with the towers and choosing the first option, where you can use the points you accrue to unlock more difficulty for that region. Thankfully, you won’t have to go too far, as West Dryridge Desert is the starting area for this map. It’s best to wait a little bit, since the Shiny Diamond is level 40 at its lowest and you might need some help in excavating it.

(1 of 3) One spot where you can get the Shiny Diamond is in West Dryridge Desert.

The best way to increase the Area Rank is to complete the events that pop up on the map for the region. If you do them quickly enough, then you will be able to get 100 points each time. After completing them all in that region, return to the tower and change Area Ranks to reset it, allowing you to search and redo them again. Rank 2 needs 100 points, while Rank 3 needs 1,000 points. Thankfully, the points are cumulative and you don’t spend them in order to unlock higher ranks.

Once you’ve gotten Rank 3, you are set to spawn the Legendary Shiny Diamond. It appears as a random event, similar to the others, but the color will be blue, instead of red. Since the events are random, especially the legendary ones even moreso, the best way to spawn them is to simply keep changing the Area Rank and checking the map after doing it. Note that you only need Rank 3 in order to begin spawn the event, but the Shiny Geode (the ore) can spawn on Ranks 1 and 2. The rank in which it spawns will determine its level, with the geode being level 40 at Rank 1 and increasing by 10 levels each time with each rank.

Best Way to Mine the Legendary Shiny Geode

The Shiny Geode will spawn in the southern end of West Dryridge Desert, on the mountainous area there. The lowest level this can be is level 40, at Area Rank 1, so you will want to have your Miner Life decently leveled to get a good whack at it. It will also help to have some Mining Buddies to accompany you, as this will help chip away at the geode’s health. Once you feel you are sufficiently ready for it, head to the geode and begin striking it.

(1 of 5) The first thing you should do is search for the Sweet Spot.

As always, especially with the boss-type ores, check for the sweet spot right away. This allows you to maximize the damage you do against it. Remember that after you strike the Sweet Spot enough times, there will be a “pulse” that appears and the Sweet Spot will change, so you’ll have to search for it again (sometimes, it appears in the same spot). Using the charged up normal attack is probably the most efficient method, since it gives you the most damage per Sweet Spot hit.

If you have Buddies helping you, it might be a wise idea to take a break (don’t disengage) to replenish some of your SP. Once you start the mining minigame, you can’t stop to use items to replenish your SP, so it’s either all or nothing. If you have the special skill unlocked, it’s a good idea to save that until the end, for a chance to get an Excellent. Although, it’s not exactly clear what an Excellent does, since you have a chance to get more than one drop, no matter what.

For mining the Shiny Geode, you will be rewarded with a bunch of XP, and the coveted Legendary Shiny Diamond.
