The armament of the military garrison or the state armoury of a town’s militia: swords, spears, halberds, bows and arrows, crossbows, armour, helmets and other offensive and defensive weapons including firearms.
In times of danger it was the duty of all townspeople to join the defence of the town and for this purpose the town had an armoury with weapons for the inhabitants. Even in times of peace, townspeople were often required to take turns on guard duty.
