Background / History

Med-Tek Research, formerly owned by Med-Tek Laboratories, was a private medical research facility specializing in infectious diseases before the Great War. One of its notable creations was PREVENT, an experimental treatment for an undisclosed illness. However, the facility’s director initiated a lockdown protocol to contain any potential pathogens, authorizing the use of lethal force against any escape attempts. Despite evacuation procedures being in place, only one known person managed to escape before the bombs fell.

Layout

The upper floors of Med-Tek Research open to a reception area, leading to various rooms including a security office, restrooms, and offices. The executive office on the third floor holds a terminal that can lift the facility-wide lockdown, accessible with Jacob’s password obtained during MacCready’s personal quest.

Exploring the sublevels reveals a complex maze of corridors, laboratories, and observation cells. The central area consists of a two-level atrium with observation cells surrounding a staircase. Access to other sections requires navigating through collapsed flooring, sealed rooms, and utilizing terminals to control security measures.
