What is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a role-playing video game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. It is the ninth mainline entry in the Like a Dragon series and serves as a direct sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon and the spin-off title Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. The game is set to be released on January 26, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Infinite Wealth features Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Kazuma Kiryu, the original protagonist of the series. It is set in the franchise’s first-ever overseas location, Hawaii, as well as familiar settings in Japan. Players control both Kasuga and Kiryu, along with their party members, in an open-world environment. The game uses a turn-based combat system, with characters choosing from various “jobs” that grant unique abilities. Additionally, there are new minigames and side activities, such as Crazy Delivery and Happy Resort Dondoko Island.

The game’s story revolves around Kasuga searching for his long-lost mother in Hawaii, while Kiryu is on a mission to protect her and faces a battle with cancer. The game also includes a cast of returning characters from previous Like a Dragon titles and introduces new characters to the series. The development and promotion of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth included announcements, trailers, and the involvement of VTuber Kson as an in-game character. Players can expect an immersive and engaging RPG experience when the game launches in early 2024.
