Description

Despite being a Demi-Human, Boc possesses the intelligence to speak unlike others of his kin. He was cast out of the Coastal Cave tribe but wishes to follow in the footsteps of his mother as a Seamster.

First Encounter

Upon first encounter, northwest of the Murkwater Bridge, Boc is disguised as a tree and calling for help. If you perform an attack on the tree, the spell breaks and Boc returns to its original form. He will then narrate how he was expelled from his cave and had everything he owned taken, humbly rewarding you with x10 Mushrooms, which is everything he currently has. However, he states that if you wait, he could sneak back into the cave and retrieve some of his belongings, which could make him useful to you.

Second Encounter

The second encounter with Boc is at Coastal Cave, within a few steps into the entrance tunnel, right besides the Coastal Cave Site of Grace. He is lying on the floor as he’s been beaten up when trying to recover his belongings. In order to help him you must venture inside the cave. But beware, however, as there are many Demi-Humans ahead, and these creatures tend to attack in groups.
At one point in Coastal Cave you’ll reach the Demi-Humans’ settlement, where you will encounter even more enemies and two Demi-Human Chief bosses. Upon defeat, these Bosses will drop Boc’s belongings:

x1 Tailoring Tools
x1 Sewing Needle

Go back to Boc The Seamster at Coastal Cave’s entrance and deliver the tools to him. He will thank you and after you move, he’ll no longer be at that location.

NOTE: It is also fine to defeat the Demi-Human Chiefs first and then encounter Boc by the Murkwater Bridge afterwards. Exhaust his dialogue and then return to the cave to give him the sewing materials.

Third Encounter

You can later find Boc The Seamster at the Lake-Facing Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes. He is glad to see you and offers to make adjustments to your garments. This is the location where you’ll find him from now on.
Boc The Seamster offers altered versions of some armor pieces. This will lower the stats of the affected armor piece, but for the most part is cosmetic as the stat drop is generally very minor.

Once you progress further into Liurna, you’ll find Boc at the East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace, and you’ll be able to speak to Melina who prompts you to speak with Boc. Unfortunately, Boc has nothing new to say at this point.

Fourth Encounter

Once you reach Leyndell Royal Capital, you’ll come across the East Capital Rampart Site of Grace where Melina will take her leave. You’ll once again find Boc here but this time you’ll be able to ask him “Did you see it?” where he’ll discuss the Erdtree.

At this point, if you don’t already have it, you’ll need to go and retrieve the Gold Sewing Needle, this can be found at the Church of Vows (where Miriel, Pastor of Vows is) in Liurnia of the Lakes. Return to the Roundtable Hold at this point and visit Enia to purchase a piece of Legendary Armor (preferably a chest piece) from her.

The Gold Sewing Needle is needed to be able to alter these garments and when you return to Boc, you’ll be able to ask him “I’m sorry… and he’ll remark about the armor in your possession. At this point, you can hand over the Gold Sewing Needle and you’ll gain three new options you can speak to Boc about, your choice when asked if he can call your Lord has no impact on this Quest.

Final Encounter

There are two endings to Boc’s Quest, and you must do this final step before you progress beyond the Mountaintops of the Giants or else Boc will vanish for the rest of your current playthrough.

Good Ending

The best outcome to Boc’s Quest requires a little more legwork as you’ll need to track down the Prattling Pate “You’re Beautiful” item in Hermit Village in Mt. Gelmir. You can find this by south from Fort Laidd to the southwest edge and following the winding path along to the east until you eventually reach the village. Once here, head through the center of the village and keep an eye on your right, you’ll spot the item outside a door here.

With this in hand, return to Boc at the East Capital Rampart Site of Grace and use the item when standing in front of him. Speak to him now and he’ll remark that he believes he heard his mother before proceeding to ask you if you think he’s beautiful, reply that you do and he’ll thank you, ending his Questline.

Bad Ending

This alternative ending involves you giving in to Boc’s wishes to look different and you’ll need to begin by tracking down a Larval Tear, you can purchase these from the merchants in Siofra River if you haven’t already found one. With one in hand, return to Boc and you can choose to give him the Larval Tear and exhaust his dialogue options.

Unfortunately this has a tragic outcome, return to Rennala at the Raya Lucaria Grand Library Site of Grace and you’ll find Boc, now a human, to your right. Unfortunately, he’s lost the ability to speak and when you rest at the nearby Site of Grace, you’ll find him dead, ending his Questline.
