Grand Theft Auto V

Raton Canyon

By
Claire Farnworth
Location
Zancudo River, Blaine County

You can go flat out at the start until you hit the first set of rapids. The course itself is fairly straight but it is full of fast-flowing rapids and tight turns in order to avoid hitting the rocks and edges. Battling the water is half of the battle. Luckily, your rivals have a lot of trouble steering their way through the course so you can afford to be a bit tentative.

Once you hit the first set of rapids, slow right down and use the sharp turn controls to steer against the water. Try not to fight it too much and only turn to avoid hitting something. The water will carry you out anyway.

Keep accelerating as you fight the water so you don’t hit the sides. After you’re through a tough bit, just let the water do the rest of the work until you have some space to really gun it.

You can really unleash in between the rapids as the water is smooth with no current to fight so make up time and put some distance between you and your opponents during these sections. This holds true if you’ve particularly struggled through a rapids section. Go for broke once you’re clear to make up lost ground. You should be miles clear at the end of the race and get that Gold medal.
