Part 1: Naval Combat

Fort Blanc is the trickiest of the forts in River Valley and like the Fort Baie Rouge fort in the North Atlantic region, is not necessarily difficult due to its five defence towers or mortars emanating from the fort itself, but due to environmental factors. In this location, the wind seems to be a bit funny, often throwing heavy gusts at you unexpectedly which can mess with your speed and manoeuvrability. The fort is also located in a small lake-type area in which it can fire mortars over just about every portion as such, once you have engaged the fort, you need to be constantly dodging its fire. This is made even worse by the presence of numerous icebergs and of course a pair of brigs who will attack you as you approach

As you approach you’ll want to utilise your mortars on the two brigs in the immediate vicinity of the fort before drawing them out and taking them down out of range of the fort’s cannon walls. Once the ships are clear, drop whatever mortars you have remaining onto the fort’s defences before moving in to unleash broadsides into the walls over a couple of passes back and forth in front of the fort. After the defences are done, move in and dock in the area permitted.

Part 2: Infiltrate

Instead of taking the fort head-on (left), draw the defending ships away. Once docked, use the tree-based pathway to the right of the gate (right) to enter the area sneakily.

As you get off the ship, climb up to the gate and instead of heading through, take the fallen tree stump to the right to find an alternate, stealthier entry into the fort.

Once you are in, turn to the right and hop to the tree. Follow the path behind this to find another stealthy cliff top route that we can use to approach the first fort commander. Kill the sniper and the two guards in front of the door quietly if possible, before heading inside to assassinate him. Afterwards, make your way over to the next sniper tower in the distance and take out the lookout. At the base of the tower is a powder keg to blow up.

Run down towards the gate entrance and try to take out all of the snipers in the area’s guard towers before approaching. When you do you should see the second commander here with a group of guards looking towers the gate itself. You should be able to sneak up and assassinate the commander without anyone noticing. Now just follow the wall to the right and eventually you’ll come to a small storage room at its base with the second load of powder reserves. Blow this up to complete the fort.
