This legendary battle is tricky for a number of reasons – firstly, the enemy fleet in the region consist of more powerful ships including brigs and frigates which take longer to eliminate than the usual fodder, secondly this battle is rife with fire ships which will spawn periodically and chase you and finally the legendary vessel - The Formidable has some extremely powerful broadside cannons that can decimate your armour even when fully upgraded.

We’re going to want to repeat the same general tactic as the previous battles; you are going to want to eliminate the enemy fleet first using a mixture of mortar and broadside attacks before turning your attention to the Formidable.

Mortars should be your first choice, but cannons work too (left). Always keep an eye out for and destroy fireships before they get you (right).

As previously described The Formidable’s cannons are formidable, but fortunately its armour is not. As this is the case, it is more susceptible to mortar strikes than any of the other legendary ships we will encounter, so use this to your advantage. Keep your distance and mortar bomb it out of existence! If you run out of mortars, try hit and run attacks with your explosive shot and broadside cannons but try not to get caught alongside of it.

Other than that, you simply need to keep an eye out for the waves of fire ships that spawn every so often and keep an eye on the mini-map to make sure that they don’t sneak up on you. Once you have destroyed the legendary ship, the memory will be completed.
